Revisiting the idea that humans aren’t perfect it is reasonable to assume that what we create isn’t going to be perfect, either. No matter how much good we set out to do, our actions will have consequences. However, it is important to maintain the mindset that what we create, and what others create is for the better. Having negative thoughts will only spread more negativity.

Let’s delve into the realm of ideations.

If I had to pick something that people would say they find the most annoying about me, it would be that I’m not very good at reading between the lines. I appreciate a more direct approach. Just say what you mean. However, I’ve come to realize that there are benefits to being able to discern situations for what they are. Having an understanding or insight can teach us to have natural responses to the things happening around us. These natural responses can either afford us comfort or they can set off alarm bells when in dangerous or uncomfortable situations.

Let’s get uncomfortable for a bit.

Though much can be gained from having a proactive intuition, much can also be lost. Discernment can either be one’s greatest weapon against the unnatural or it can be one’s greatest curse. Going by my own gift, I’ve come to realize that to use such a gift one’s mentality must be strong.

For instance, there was a time I got a feeling something might be wrong. At first, I thought it was my instincts telling me there’s something wrong with the person that I was engaging. Believing in what my gut might be telling me, I began to act in an unusual way around that person, igniting a firestorm of inhibitions. Odd behaviors such as doubt, distrust, confusion, anger, and resentment begin to tear the relationship apart all because of a feeling I thought I understood. Took me a while but I realized that I was naïve. That feeling I had was not instinctive. It was counterintuitive. It was simply my fear getting in the way. I was deflecting my feelings onto another person.

I’ve been through some things in my past that caused me to be skeptical of people. I judged and created ideas about people due to the hurt I received.

One’s pain has the power to spread negative emotions which can affect our environment. We must heal from old wounds for us to be able to see the truth.

Therapy is a great way for us to get a handle on the uncomfortable feelings or intuitions that overpower us. While discernment can be used to help others improve their emotional and mental well-being, continuously trying to bare the emotions of others while trying to tend to your own needs can be exhausting. Remember, you can’t be a blessing to others if you aren’t first a blessing to yourself.

In my lifetime, I have met many people who are exceptional at discerning situations for what they are. However, very few have gone beyond exceptional. This includes my friend Danny. Even though he is young, his gift is very powerful. Seeing it in action causes me to reflect on my ability to ascertain a situation. And after having interacted with him, I learned about the price we pay for being guided by our fears. Danny, I’m happy we met. You’ve given me a hope that’s impossible to describe.
