Many people with an aim to educate children in slums and many philanthropists with an ambition to remove poverty fails to see that these both problems are complimentary to each other and one cannot be addressed without addressing the other.
Child labor is a product of poverty and which leads to school drop out and ultimately to illiteracy. And whenever these children are asked whether they want to go to school or not. Their reply is always positive but they also add that their family’s financial situations is such that they cannot afford to go to school.
I came to know this organization named “Rizq” and the remarkable work they do. They collect the clean leftovers and pack them elegantly and then provide this food to needy people living in slums for rupees ten only and that also just not to make people dependent on them.
So what I think the solution of both the problems is to provide food just like “Rizq” and then motivate parents to let their children receive education. Since now the children do not need to earn to feed the family they can now freely receive education. And to provide education we must find some volunteer teachers and then set up a street school at first. Ask people to donate their old books and collect little donations to buy stationary and copies for the children.
I think the task is difficult but not impossible. It can be a great idea for entrepreneurship. Although it might not earn us money but it will surely earn us satisfaction and happiness.
