The beauty of Writing

“I write to discover what I know.” — Flannery O’Connor

Writing is the most organized way to put forth your thoughts, feelings, and knowledge. It has been the form of expression for mankind for over hundred years for the gloomiest to most cheerful moods.

Remember those days when we used to write letters to communicate our whereabouts and intentions. The letters used to be the exact depiction of our feelings with no word limit to disrupt the flow of expressing oneself. It was really our heart in the paper. But that trend has changed now. We are using fewer words but the essence is still there. Well, that’s the beauty of writing.

The process of writing makes you extremely mindful. When we sit down to write something, we get in touch with the most intricate details of our perception about a certain thing. It’s like going through every item in a particular folder.

Writing, in particular, helps me unfold and identify opinions and assumptions that I had no idea was sitting on the back of my head. It is a way of confronting the deep-rooted feeling that I consciously or unconsciously suppress or haven’t acknowledged.

Writing on a daily basis helps me learn new things every day. I do research for a certain writing and stumble upon much new information that I hadn’t intended to learn and end up learning.

Whether you are a professional or a journal writer, the time spent writing is the best . Writing while feeling the environment around you makes you feel like the whole world is your own creative space. There is a beautiful thrill when after an idea strikes your brain or when you take hours pondering for one. You start penning down something new and unique.

Your writing is a part of your intellect and thus reveals your personality. It helps in the self-evaluation. Writing is like a therapy session which starts with messy and confused ideas but ends with sorted and clearly defined thoughts.

Writing has much bigger contribution for the society than me. It is due to the process of writing that we have come to know the people, religion, culture and the stories of our ancestors of the past civilizations in the form of poems, stories, scripture, manuscripts and books.

Thus, in the era of apps and virtual assistance which aids to limiting of the physical activity of people, I really hope creativity doesn’t get overshadowed. Writing on a desk with pen and paper, sitting on a chair, in the most old fashioned authentic way stays fresh and doesn’t ever get replaced by any technological trend.

A single piece of writing has the power to change people’s mindset and bring revolution. I hope mankind doesn’t ever lose this weapon and writing thrives till the end.
