The pretty house with lights lined up its cobble stone pathway by the intersection was equidistant from both our abodes. One could see those lights from a distance which somewhat gave an illusion of fireflies glittering in the night sky, as I walked back home, from yours.

In the evenings, we would meet exactly at the same spot each time, no matter where we were headed to, apparently because convenience was king or was it an unspoken rule between us that we religiously followed. I like to believe it was the latter.

I do not remember how we decided on finding the middle ground.

I wonder why you didn’t pay me a visit when our hearts were at a conflict.Did the middle ground exist no more . Once a flowerbed of blooming roses and now a bed of thorns poking at each heartstrings.

But even after all this, would you not choose to walk up the same gravel path which led you to the comfort you most crave…To Your home..or To me..

I will hold the light for you, I won’t let you ever be cold because I will have a spare blanket always.
