There’s no better time than right now to break a bad habit

We all have things that we just normally do out of habit, even habits that could cause cancer. And many times habits are just a way of life, and we do the things that we do because that’s the way we’ve always done them, even though those habits could be doing us harm.

And yes, it’s understood that some habits are really hard to break, cigarette smoking being probably the most popular cancer-causing habit to break. I know this one all too well because my dad died of lung cancer brought on by his heavy smoking habit.

Why they chose to show young children such a disturbing film is beyond me, but they did.

Anyway, I remember coming home in full tears crying and begging my parents to please stop smoking because I didn’t want them to die from cancer. Neither of them ever stopped smoking, and many years later sure enough my dad got lung cancer from it.

My dad was diagnosed at age 54 and he died a horrible, painful death at age 61. The lung cancer had eaten him almost to nothing. When he was diagnosed, one of the first things he said was that the cigarettes had to go. After all the years of smoking, it took a terminal diagnosis for him to finally quit smoking. Of course, it was too late.
