The ways we’ve adapted our favorite positions and kink to enhance our sensual experience.

How long has it been?

Long enough so that we’ve been going at it for longer than half the people in the US have been alive.

We’ve seen a lot of change around us and within us. But we’re still here, living and loving like never before.

But changes have been made.

One of the keys to our success is adaptability. Mostly, we’ve had to accommodate changes in our bodies. We’re stiffer (not there, but elsewhere), we can’t hold a position for as long as it might take to go over the edge, and we need to be gentler on ourselves and each other.

The style of our sexuality has changed. We’re not trying new positions or positions that require a lot of sustained strength. Our sexuality is more sensual, in a non-sexual kind of way. For example, we’ve always slept naked, but over the last decade we spend more time close together. One of us usually wakes up in the middle of the night to pee, finding the other of us is pressed close so it’s not possible to get out of bed unnoticed.

One of the most wonderful things we’ve discovered is that we don’t need to come every time we have sex. A mind-blowing orgasm is no longer our measure of success. There really is no measure of success. We achieved success forty years ago when we decided to be together forever.

Over the last fifteen years or so, my knees have gotten a bit wonky. And my ole’ back isn’t as flexible, so we’ve made some adjustments in the way we play. Doggy doesn’t work for long and missionary isn’t the blessing it once was. This is were having the right mattress (memory foam, really thick, really expensive) makes all the difference.

Most of what we do these days is on the edge. We have legsup, bendover and on-the-corner in our repertoire.
